This stone sculpture has been handcrafted out of hard and heavy Spring stone. The Spring stone originates from a area in Zimbabwe known as Bulawayo and carved by Shona carvers. This style of carving is also known as Shona art.

Shona art is sort after all around the world and often found in museums. This Spring stone African carving is of a Shona woman in abstract form, with head to the side and arms tucked under her legs while kneeling, the sculpture is known as "the Prayer". The Spring stone is then smooth polished and set in the natural color of the stone.
