A beautiful African Elephant hair bracelet that is made from grass reed fiber. These bracelets have become rare and you will only find a limited stock in any country. Elephant hair bracelets have become sort after items of African Jewelry and have a stylish mystique about them. These elephant hair bracelets are worn by many traditional African people in Africa as a sign of respect to the earthly Gods and also show the respect that they have for the African Elephant.

Genuine Elephant hair bracelets represented by the two knots respectively represent the earth (fertility and ancestors) and nature (forces and spirits). By moving the 2 knots closer together not only do you adjust the Elephant hair bracelet to fit your wrist but it is also said to tune into the two forces of the earth and nature.

The hair of the Elephant that is used to make these bracelets come from the end of the Elephants tail (as seen in the photo below) The hair can grow to some length and can reach lengths of up to 30cm in length. In older Elephants the hair turns white which show really old and rare hair.

Elephant hair is legal in South Africa and you will see Elephant hair Jewelry in some crafts markets and jewelry stores. Elephants in South Africa are actually thriving to the point where it is causing a problem for some of the national game reserves who are running out of space for them.

We only get in a few pieces of jewelry from local game reserves in our area when they have collected hair and have them available. Usually we get in a few Elephant hair bracelets which we unravel and use the hair to make other pieces of Jewelry which can be found on this website. At the moment we only have bracelets in stock that have around 6 strands of medium thick hair.
