African Zulu Traditional Amashoba - leg bands
African Zulu Traditional Amashoba
Size: Adjustable to fit all sizes
Amashoba are cow tails worn on the upper arms and below the knees to give the appearance of greater bulk to the body. The set that we have in stock is just for the legs and goes just below the knee.
The word 'Amashovashova' is a Zulu word that describes the pedaling or pushing/shoving motion
Traditionally the Zulu crafted the Amashoba from Nguni cow tails which is the native cow found in Zululand and owned by the Zulu people as a status of wealth. The Amashoba has also been crafted from other animal leathers and hairs such as sheep's wool but that is less common.
