Traditional Zulu ankle rattles
Traditional Zulu ankle rattles
Size: Adjustable to fit all sizes
A set of traditional Zulu ankle rattles that are crafted from Argema mimosae cocoons . The Zulu ankle rattles are collected after the moth emerged and the cocoon is then filled with sand or small stones and then sewn up and sewn onto leather or other backing which then does around the ankle of the dancer. The Zulu ankle rattles are used in traditional dance which are done during ceremonies such as wedding, funerals and births. The Zulu prefer to use this cocoon as the sound the rattle makes is amplified.
