An African Bakota mask that originates from Ghana and has been handcrafted by a tribesman from the Bakota tribe.
This African mask has been decorated with brass and colorful blue,red and white bead inlays. A Bakota mask is used for festivity and celebration. It features the characteristics of an elderly man with a small beard, while the face symbolizes its strength. The Bakota Mask has the significance of Kingship, a ceremonial tribal mask representing the longevity and reign of the King.
The wood used is Sese wood which is then tanned black and polished to give the Bakota mask a smooth clean feel.
