African wooden Knob- Kerrie
African wooden Knob- Kerrie
Size: 80cm - 90cm
An African knob-kerrie, handcrafted out of African Thorn tree wood . The Knob-Kerrie as it is known in African terms is a club that is part of the African shield and used as a protective weapon when on attack. This Knob-Kerrie has Nguni hide under the shaft of the ball and is set in a dark black color.
Usually on an African shield you will get the Knob-Kerrie,spear and center shaft. This tool was used by Zulu tribesmen as an attacking tool to hit their enemy on the head with a Zulu shield in one hand to protect themselves and the Knob-Kerrie in the other while charging forward. A spear was also used with this tool and would be thrown just before attack and then charge with the Knob-Kerrie.
All sizes listed are approximate. The Zulu Knob-Kerrie you purchase and receive may differ just slightly in size, look, and/or color from the Zulu Knob-Kerrie shown in the picture because each Zulu Knob-Kerrie is handcrafted and hand beaded by individual artists.
